DJKI Adjusts Trademark Registration Fees for General Applicants, Effective 1 August 2026

The Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DJKI) under the Ministry of Law is adjusting non-tax state revenue (PNBP) tariffs for trademark registration services for general applicants. This marks the first adjustment since the fees were set in 2016, as part of efforts to improve the quality of intellectual property (KI) services. Through a policy regulated in Government Regulation Number 30 of 2026 concerning Types and Tariffs of Non-Tax State Revenue Applicable at the Ministry of Law, the application fee for trademark registration for general applicants is adjusted from Rp 1.8 million to Rp 2.8 million per class of goods and/or services. Meanwhile, the government is maintaining a special tariff for Micro and Small Enterprises (UMK) at Rp 500,000 per class without any increase. In addition to cost relief, the requirements for UMK registration have also been simplified. UMK operators can now attach one of the following: a UMK Recommendation Letter, a Risk-Based Business Identification Number (NIB), a certificate of Individual Company, or a deed of establishment for a Village or Merah Putih Cooperative as regulated in the Minister of Law Regulation Number 5 of 2026. Director General of Intellectual Property Hermansyah Siregar stated that the tariff adjustment was made after nearly a decade without changes. He said the adjustment is necessary because the needs for organising intellectual property services continue to evolve along with technological advances, the increasing number of applications, and the demand for faster and higher-quality services. ‘This policy, which takes effect on 1 August 2026, is the government’s effort to ensure that trademark registration services are of higher quality, adaptive to technological developments, and able to provide better legal certainty for the public. At the same time, we maintain our support for micro and small enterprises by keeping their special tariff without any increase,’ Hermansyah said on Thursday, 16 July 2026. DJKI continues to carry out a series of service improvements, including strengthening the electronic application system, enhancing data security, developing digital-based services, and refining and accelerating the trademark examination process. DJKI encourages the public to continue protecting trademarks as a business identity and asset with economic value. Trademark protection not only provides legal certainty for owners but also increases consumer trust and strengthens the competitiveness of Indonesian products in both national and international markets.
