The name of preacher Miftah Maulana Habiburrahman, widely known as Gus Miftah, was mentioned during a trial for alleged corruption in a Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) project under the Ministry of Transportation. Public prosecutors revealed an alleged flow of project funds amounting to Rp100 million into the pocket of the leader of the Ora Aji Islamic Boarding School.

Gus Miftah’s name was cited when the prosecutor read out the official examination report of witness Dheki Martin, a former project commitment-making official, during a follow-up hearing for the defendant, inactive Pati Regent Sudewo, at the Semarang Corruption Court on Monday (13/7/2026).

‘He also received that money, 100 million rupiah. So that people know, so that people in Pati also know. Gus Miftah, the one with the long hair, got money from Mr Dheki from the project funds,’ the prosecutor stated. Upon hearing the report read by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutor, witness Dheki Martin did not deny the statement. To confirm the identity of the recipient, the prosecutor linked the figure of Gus Miftah to an incident that had recently gone viral. ‘Is that Gus Miftah who was recently in the spotlight because of the ice seller?’ the prosecutor asked for confirmation. ‘Yes,’ Dheki replied.

The prosecutor then further clarified the identity of the Miftah in question by mentioning the preacher’s distinctive long hair. ‘He also received that money, 100 million rupiah. So that people know, so that people in Pati also know,’ the prosecutor added. ‘Gus Miftah, the one with the long hair, got money from Mr Dheki from the project funds so that people would know,’ he continued.

The project referred to in the indictment is the construction of the Solo-Semarang double-track railway Segment 1 (JGSS 1), valued at hundreds of billions of rupiah. The defendant Sudewo, who was a member of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives at the time the project was underway, is charged with receiving a commitment fee from the project.

Meanwhile, Sudewo declined to comment at length on the emergence of the prominent preacher’s name in the vortex of the case ensnaring him. He claimed ignorance regarding the flow of project funds to Gus Miftah. ‘I don’t understand. I don’t understand that,’ Sudewo said briefly to journalists before leaving the court area.

As of the time this report was filed, Gus Miftah’s camp had not issued an official statement regarding the mention of the preacher’s name in the railway infrastructure corruption trial.
