Djarum to stage bridge tourney

SEMARANG (JP): Giant cigarette company PT Djarum Kudus will be
staging the 31st Djarum Cup International Bridge Tournament here
from April 12 to April 15.

Chairman of the organizing committee Budi Susanto, told
reporters late Tuesday that the tournament would be putting up Rp
60 million (US$5,770) as prize money.

The tournament will also serve as a warm-up event for the
national team in preparation for the Bermuda Bowl in Bali in
October.

The team will comprise Hengky Lasut and Eddy Manoppo, Denny
Sacul and Frangky Karwur, and S Panelewen and Robert Tobing.

Several countries, including Japan, Chinese Taipei, Malaysia,
the Philippines, Thailand, Hong Kong and China, will be competing
in the event. (har)
