Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs (Menko Polkam) Djamari Chaniago conveyed his condolences in person on the passing of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Emir of Qatar from 1995 to 2013, on Tuesday. The message was delivered during a visit to Doha, Qatar, to meet with the current Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. “This activity is the execution of an order from the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, to the Menko Polkam to convey condolences directly to the Emir of Qatar as a form of state respect for the late Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani,” said Brigadier General Honi Havana, Head of the Public Relations and Data Information Bureau of the Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs. He explained that Djamari and his delegation departed for Qatar from Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, East Jakarta, using an Indonesian Air Force Falcon 8X aircraft. Upon arrival in Doha, Djamari was welcomed by Mr. Hisham Al Ali, Deputy Chief of Protocol, Sheikh Jassim Ghanim Al Thani from Protocol MOFA, Indonesian Ambassador to Qatar Syahdah Guruh Langkah Samudra, and Indonesian Defence Attaché in Qatar Colonel Arh Tengku Sony. Honi expressed hope that Djamari’s presence in Qatar would help maintain bilateral relations between Indonesia and Qatar, enabling both parties to continue collaborating in nation-building in the future.
