DIY Weather Forecast Today: Yogyakarta Shrouded in Dense Clouds

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) DIY released the weather forecast for the DIY region today. There is no potential for rain across most of the region today, with conditions expected to be cloudy to densely overcast throughout the day.

City of Yogyakarta: According to the official BMKG DIY Instagram account, @infobmkgyia, on Friday, 22 May 2026, the entire City of Yogyakarta is not expected to experience rain today. The weather is forecast to be cloudy to heavily overcast throughout the day.

Sleman: In parts of Sleman, there is also no forecast for rain today. The weather is expected to be cloudy to heavily overcast throughout the day, including in the area of Prambanan Temple and its surroundings.

However, in the Kaliurang area, extending to the slopes of Mount Merapi, namely the Pakem Subdistrict, the Turi Subdistrict, and the Cangkringan Subdistrict, there is potential for light rain starting from midday.

Bantul: No rain potential today in Bantul; the weather is expected to be cloudy to heavily overcast throughout the day. This includes coastal tourism areas across Bantul such as Parangtritis Beach.

Kulon Progo: Parts of Kulon Progo also show no rain today, including coastal areas up to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA); the weather is forecast to be cloudy to heavily overcast throughout the day. However, in the Menoreh Hills areas such as Samigaluh and Girimulyo, light rain is possible from midday.

Gunungkidul: All areas in Gunungkidul are not expected to experience rain today, with cloudy to heavily overcast conditions throughout the day. This includes coastal tourist areas such as Indrayanti Beach.
