DIY Weather Forecast Today: Thick Clouds Blanket Jogja

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) for the Special Region of Yogyakarta has released today’s weather forecast for the region. Weather across the entire area is expected to be cloudier, with thick clouds hanging over the skies of Jogja.

Yogyakarta City

According to BMKG DIY’s official Instagram account, @infobmkgyia, on Sunday (23/8/2026), the entire Yogyakarta City area has no potential for rain today. The weather is predicted to be partly cloudy during the day and thickly cloudy later on.

Sleman

Parts of Sleman are also forecast to remain dry today. Weather is expected to be cloudy to thickly cloudy throughout the day, including in the Prambanan Temple area and its surroundings.

Other areas such as Kaliurang, the slopes of Mount Merapi including Pakem, Turi, and Cangkringan sub-districts, are expected to experience thick cloud cover from the afternoon onwards.

Bantul

There is no rain potential in the Bantul area today, with weather forecast to be partly cloudy to cloudy throughout the day, including in coastal tourist areas across Bantul such as Parangtritis Beach.

Kulon Progo

The entire Kulon Progo area also has no rain potential today, including the Menoreh hills, coastal areas, and Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA). Weather is predicted to be partly cloudy to thickly cloudy throughout the day.

Gunungkidul

All areas of Gunungkidul are likewise forecast to have no rain potential today, with weather expected to be clearer compared to other areas, including in coastal tourist spots across Gunungkidul such as Indrayanti Beach.
