DIY Weather Forecast Today: Light Rain Widespread Across the Region

BMKG, the Indonesian Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics, DIY, released the weather forecast for the DIY region today, Sunday 8 March 2026. The entire region is anticipated to experience rain showers of light intensity.

Yogyakarta City: According to the official BMKG DIY Instagram account, @infobmkgyia, light rain is forecast to dampen the entire Yogyakarta City from the afternoon onwards, including the Malioboro area.

Sleman: Light rain is forecast to be widespread across Sleman from the afternoon, including the Prambanan temple area and its surroundings, the Kaliurang area, and the slopes of Mount Merapi, specifically the Kapanewons Pakem, Turi, and Cangkringan.

Bantul: Light rain is forecast to spread across all of Bantul from the afternoon, including coastal tourist areas such as Parangtritis Beach.

Kulon Progo: Light rain is expected to sweep across all of Kulon Progo from the afternoon, including the Menoreh Hills, Kulon Progo’s coastal tourist areas such as Glagah Beach, up to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA).

Gunungkidul: Light rain is likely to affect most of Gunungkidul from the afternoon, except in coastal tourist areas such as Indrayanti Beach, which are forecast to be dry today.
