DIY Weather Forecast Today: Jogja Drenched by Heavy Rain and Thunder
Badan Meteorologi, Klimatologi, dan Geofisika (BMKG) DIY released the weather forecast for the Yogyakarta Special Region (DIY) today, Wednesday, 4 March 2026. Most areas remain likely to be drenched by rain of moderate intensity from the afternoon, though rainfall intensity in Jogja city is slightly higher.
Yogyakarta City
According to the official BMKG DIY Instagram account, @infobmkgyia, heavy rain accompanied by lightning is widely forecast to drench the entire area of Yogyakarta City from the afternoon, including the Malioboro area. This will be followed by light rain afterwards.
Sleman
Heavy rain accompanied by lightning is also predicted to drench much of Sleman from the afternoon, except in the Prambanan temple area and its surroundings.
Meanwhile, in the Kaliurang area, up to the slopes of Mount Merapi, namely Pakem, Turi, and Cangkringan sub-districts, rain is forecast at moderate intensity from the afternoon.
Bantul
Rain of light to moderate intensity is expected to blanket the entire Bantul area from the afternoon, including the coastal tourist area across Bantul such as Parangtritis Beach.
Kulon Progo
Rain of light to moderate intensity is estimated to drench all of Kulon Progo from the afternoon, including the Menoreh hill area, Kulon Progo coastal tourist areas such as Glagah Beach, up to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA).
Gunungkidul
Rain of light to moderate intensity is expected to spread across all Gunungkidul from the afternoon, including its coastal tourist areas such as Indrayanti Beach.
