DIY Weather Forecast Today: Jogja Braced for Widespread Rain

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) DI Yogyakarta has released today’s regional weather forecast for the DI Yogyakarta region. Several areas are forecast to be drenched by widespread rain from the afternoon, including the City of Yogyakarta and Sleman.

City of Yogyakarta

According to the official BMKG DIY Instagram account, @infobmkgyia, on Tuesday 19 May 2026, light to moderate rain with widespread coverage is likely to drench the entire City of Yogyakarta from the afternoon, including the Malioboro area.

Sleman

Light rain is forecast to drench the entire Sleman area from the afternoon, including the Prambanan temple precincts, the Kaliurang area, and the slope of Mount Merapi in the Pakem, Turi, and Cangkringan districts (Kapanewon).

Bantul

Light rain is also forecast to fall across most of Bantul from the afternoon, except in the coastal resort areas across Bantul such as Parangtritis Beach.

Kulon Progo

Most of Kulon Progo is not expected to be drenched today, with the weather forecast to be sunny to partly cloudy throughout the day. This includes the coastal tourism areas of Kulon Progo, such as Glagah Beach, up to Yogyakarta International Airport (YIA).

Meanwhile, in the Menoreh Hills area such as Samigaluh and Girimulyo, light rain is expected to fall beginning from the afternoon.

Gunungkidul

Light rain is forecast to drench much of Gunungkidul from the afternoon, except in the coastal tourist areas across Gunungkidul such as Indrayanti Beach, which is expected to be rain-free today.
