DIY Police to Summon Clubs and Supporters to Discuss PSIM vs PSS Derby in Super League
The Yogyakarta Special Region Police (Polda DIY) have summoned club officials and supporters to discuss the heated DIY derby between PSIM and PSS in the 2026/2027 Super League. The likely venue and the presence of supporters will be on the agenda.
PSIM and PSS, who share an intense rivalry, are both competing in the top tier of Indonesian football. The high level of rivalry is felt not only on the pitch but also among the supporters.
To that end, Polda DIY has begun discussing security arrangements for the match well in advance. Next week, Polda DIY will hold a meeting with a number of stakeholders to discuss these fixtures.
“It will be held next week. If I am not mistaken, it will bring together PSIM, PSS Sleman, the managers, owners, and the local governments of Jogja and Sleman. We will be behind them,” said DIY Police Chief, Inspector General Anggoro Sukartono, when met at the Kepatihan Complex in Yogyakarta on Wednesday (5/8/2026).
Following the meeting, an analysis will be conducted regarding security for the match. According to him, everything can be done in Jogja.
“Everything can be done in Jogja, but there will be predictions, discussions, and meetings with the club owners and supporter presidents,” he explained.
The matter of supporter attendance at the derby will only be decided after coordination with various parties.
“We will see there (in the coordination), what the decision will be. If the situation is deemed not conducive, we will certainly prohibit it for the sake of Jogja. Jogja must be safe. Anything could happen (with supporter attendance),” he concluded.
