The DIY Regional Government will not hold an open house with the Governor and Deputy Governor of DIY this year. Instead, a silaturahmi event that can be attended by the general public has been prepared at the Kepatihan Complex in Yogyakarta City on Monday (30/3) ahead.

“The plan is for the DIY Regional Government to hold an Idul Fitri silaturahmi, not an open house,” said the Coordinator of Substantive Affairs for the Public Relations Section of the General Bureau, Public Relations, and Protocol of the DIY Regional Secretariat, Ditya Nanaryo Aji, when met at the Kepatihan Complex on Friday (27/3/2026).

It is known that the silaturahmi event with the Governor and Deputy Governor of DIY or the open house last year was cancelled due to budget efficiency. Meanwhile, this year’s silaturahmi event is also different from previous years’ open house events.

“Different from previous years when we provided food in the form of a buffet. This year, we are holding it more simply, as per the instructions from the leadership,” Ditya explained.

In place of the buffet dishes, the DIY Regional Government is providing 70 carts containing various UMKM menus from residents, such as angkringan, soto, and others. All are available for free for the public attending to enjoy.

“We return it from the community to the community by partnering with UMKM. The spirit is silaturahmi with simplicity, and the hope is that the economy will also keep turning,” Ditya clarified.

This silaturahmi is open to invitees and the general public, not just Yogyakarta city residents. However, there is a time restriction for the event. The silaturahmi will open at 10:00 WIB until 12:00 WIB, after which it will close and only handle the existing queue inside.

“Because usually the queue is already long from the morning. We will handle those who want to shake hands with them. In terms of budget, it is more efficient and reaches more people,” Ditya said.

As in previous years, the public is only allowed to shake hands with the Governor and Deputy Governor of DIY without any long conversation sessions, let alone selfies. This is done to avoid prolonging the queue.

The public attending is required to wear neat, polite clothing and is prohibited from wearing flip-flops. For disabled residents, special facilities and access will be provided for priority.

“As in previous years, the format is just handshakes. Later, there will be the Governor, GKR Hemas, Deputy Governor, and Gusti Putri,” Ditya said.

“For photos, as in previous years, there will be a team from the Regional Government’s Public Relations that will take the photos. The results will be shared with the public via a link for download. Because of the long queue, long conversations are not possible, just greetings,” he concluded.
