DIY Governor Sultan HB X to Resume Work Tomorrow After Medical Check-Up Leave
Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X will resume his duties on Thursday (2/7/2026) after a week-long leave for health reasons. Regional Secretary Ni Made Dwi Panti Indrayanti confirmed the Sultan has returned and is in good health. “He has returned home, thank God there is nothing wrong, he is healthy,” Made said at the Kepatihan complex in Yogyakarta on Wednesday (1/7/2026). Made stated the Sultan’s first agenda upon returning will be a plenary session with the Yogyakarta Special Region Legislative Council (DPRD DIY). “He will be active again tomorrow. His leave was until 1 July,” Made said. She noted the session’s agenda on regional budget accountability is extensive, so the mechanism will differ and not all documents will be read aloud. The Sultan had been on leave since 24 June 2026, appointing Vice Governor KGPAA Paku Alam X as acting daily governor. Made previously emphasised this was a standard administrative procedure, not a new policy or political manoeuvre, and urged the public not to worry. She clarified the Sultan’s main agenda during the leave was solely a medical check-up.
