DIY Governor: Family is the Main Foundation for Instilling National Values
Yogyakarta - The Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), Sri Sultan Hamengku X, has emphasised that the family is the primary foundation for instilling national values. “The family is the main foundation of the nation, and it is there that national values, tolerance, and noble morals are first instilled,” said Sri Sultan in a written speech read by the Head of the DIY Social Welfare Bureau, Faishol Muslim, at the Muslimat NU Anniversary Celebration in Yogyakarta on Sunday. “Women, especially mothers, have a central role in shaping the character of future generations; through touches of affection, exemplary conduct, and wise education, values of modernisation, mutual cooperation, and mutual respect can be instilled from an early age,” he stated. According to him, this constitutes a major contribution that may not always be visible but is highly determinant for the nation’s future. The DIY Regional Government hopes that Muslimat NU women can continue to adapt to the times, including by utilising digital technology as a means for da’wah, education, and community empowerment. “In this way, the values of goodness being advocated can reach a wider audience, especially the younger generation,” he said. Furthermore, he noted that Muslimat NU’s role in the social field has brought significant benefits to society, from health services and early childhood education (PAUD) to family economic empowerment activities. Meanwhile, in the religious field, he said, Muslimat NU continues to reinforce Islamic values as Rahmatan Lil Alamin, which soothe and guide the ummah towards a harmonious life. “Meanwhile, in the national realm, Muslimat NU is always at the forefront in maintaining unity, strengthening the spirit of diversity, and reaffirming commitment to the NKRI,” he said. The Governor hopes that at its 80th age, Muslimat NU will grow even stronger, beneficial, and able to provide the best contributions to society, the nation, and the state, as well as serve the ummah, strengthen the nation, and spread goodness for all.
