DIY Fuel Stock Guaranteed Safe Through Eid Al-Fitr Despite Rising Tensions in the Middle East
YOGYAKARTA — Tensions in the Middle East between the United States and Israel against Iran have sparked global concern. One anticipated impact was the availability of fuel in Indonesia, including in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). Although the situation remains tense, PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Jawa Bagian Tengah (JBT) has confirmed that energy stocks in the DIY and Central Java regions are safe to meet the needs of the public, including the surge in consumption ahead of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr in 2026. Area Manager Communication, Relations & CSR Pertamina Patra Niaga JBT, Taufiq Kurniawan, said supply preparations for Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr had been made well before the dynamics of international conflict developed. ‘We prepared long before the Iran-Israel war happened. So we guarantee the supply is safe,’ he said on Thursday (5 March 2026). He explained that BBM stock resilience in the DIY region is maintained at around 20 times the normal daily consumption. With this ratio, the supply is considered safe even if there is a sudden surge in demand during the mudik period and Lebaran holidays. To illustrate, if daily consumption is 10, while stock is 200, the reserve can meet needs for up to about 20 days. This scheme is the main indicator in maintaining energy distribution stability. ‘We hope this will give people peace of mind, especially the mudik travellers who will be on the road,’ he added.
