I sympathize with Mrs. Ida after reading of her experience in
the Konsultasi Hukum column in the paper on Sept. 28, 1994. I do
not know why your husband deserted you 10 years ago. I believe
there must be a family problem that is difficult to solve.

Leaving a wife (family) for 10 years without her prior
knowledge and providing no financial support is against the
Marriage Law.

Your asking the Religious Court to issue a divorce certificate
is justifiable, and if the marriage certificate is with your
husband you can ask for a copy at the district Office of
Religious Affairs where your marriage was registered.

I share your happiness that you have a new suitor. I hope your
new partner understands your problem. I would like to warn you
not to get married illegally, or you will get into trouble.
