District Road in Sepang, Buleleng Collapses Due to Heavy Rain Erosion
Heavy rain lashed several areas in Buleleng Regency on Monday afternoon (27/4). As a result, a district road in Sepang Village, Busungbiu Subdistrict, Buleleng, Bali, collapsed and was eroded by rainwater.
The Buleleng BPBD recorded that an embankment along the roadside, spanning 7 metres, collapsed due to the heavy rain. Additionally, a 7-metre long and 1-metre wide concrete section of the road surface in the area was also damaged.
“The damage occurred due to fairly intense rainwater runoff that eroded the road surface and embankment at the location,” stated the Head of the Buleleng BPBD, I Gede Suyasa, on Tuesday (28/4/2026).
Suyasa explained that the Buleleng BPBD had conducted an initial assessment and distributed emergency logistical assistance to the affected residents. In addition, the BPBD coordinated with the local village government to take anticipatory measures to prevent further risks.
“We have urged the village authorities to cover the former landslide area with tarpaulin and install safety signs for passersby,” he clarified.
Suyasa stated that the total losses from the incident are estimated at Rp 18 million. He assured that various damages caused by the rain have been reported to the Buleleng Public Works and Spatial Planning Department (PUTR).
“Repairs have been proposed so that they can be handled promptly by the relevant department,” he concluded.
