Distribution and Logistics Become Key Drivers of SME Growth
Distribution is increasingly seen as determining the growth of micro, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) amid intensifying competition in digital business. Beyond product quality and marketing strategies, the smooth delivery of goods has become a factor shaping entrepreneurs’ ability to expand their markets. Logistics company JNE notes that the need for fast and stable distribution makes SMEs increasingly dependent on logistics services. This trend accompanies rising digital trade transactions and cross-regional sales activities. As part of its strategy to retain business customers, JNE held the JLC Race Award 2025 at Hutan Kota by Plataran Senayan, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. The award was presented to customers enrolled in the JNE Loyalty Card (JLC) programme with the highest transaction value and the largest shipping volume. The JLC programme is reported to have over 1 million members across Indonesia. This year there were 24 winners, comprising six national-level and 18 regional-level winners. The national-level winners for the highest transaction value and the greatest shipping volume each received one BYD Atto 1, while in the regional category the highest-transaction prize consisted of a 15-gram gold bar and the prize for the greatest shipping volume was a motorcycle. Mohamad Feriadi, Director of JNE, said that the growth of the logistics company’s business cannot be separated from SME activity as the main users of distribution services. “With the spirit of JNE’s 35th year under the banner ‘Bergerak Bersama’ (Move Together), JNE believes that every small step will be more meaningful when done together to deliver tangible and consistent benefits,” Feriadi said in a press release on Friday, 22 May 2026. The winners were determined on 31 March 2026 at JNE’s head office in West Jakarta, in the presence of representatives from the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, the Jakarta Social Service, and a notary. The JLC programme, operating since 2009, has been developed through features such as points redemption, donation programmes, and redemptions with other loyalty partners. Amid the growth of digital commerce, the logistics company has begun strengthening its customer loyalty strategy to safeguard transaction volumes from the SME sector. The rising demand for distribution is expected to continue driving competition in the logistics industry, particularly in delivering fast, efficient, and nationwide delivery services across Indonesia.
