West Java Police Chief Inspector General Pipit Rismanto has reminded community organisations (Ormas) and non-governmental organisations (LSM) not to take actions that could disrupt the investment climate in Karawang Regency. The warning was delivered during a coordination meeting with representatives of Ormas and LSM at the Karawang Police Headquarters hall on Monday (13/7).

In the meeting attended by Karawang Police Chief AKBP Fiki N. Ardiansyah, West Java Police officials, Karawang Regent Aep Syaepuloh, local government elements, and dozens of Ormas and LSM representatives, the Police Chief emphasised that Karawang is one of the largest industrial areas in Indonesia and plays a vital role in national economic growth.

He stated that the sustainability of investment must be safeguarded collectively because it directly impacts job creation for the community. Therefore, all parties are urged to prioritise dialogue and resolve issues according to the applicable legal mechanisms.

The Police Chief also reminded against any acts of intimidation, coercion, illegal levies, extortion, or unlawful actions that could potentially hinder business activities.

β€œThe West Java Police are committed to providing protection, shelter, and services to the community, as well as ensuring legal certainty for business actors and investors. We also open communication channels so that every public aspiration can be conveyed politely and in accordance with the applicable mechanisms,” he asserted on Monday (13/7).

Meanwhile, Karawang Regent Aep Syaepuloh said that Karawang Regency is one of the centres of national economic growth, possessing an international-standard industrial area and serving as a prime investment destination in Indonesia.

He stated that the Karawang Regency Government is committed to creating a safe, comfortable, transparent, and conducive investment climate by improving the quality of public services, infrastructure development, legal certainty, and strengthening synergy between the government, the business world, and the community.

He added that incoming investment has a significant impact on regional development. Besides creating jobs for the community, investment also contributes to improving the quality of human resources, encouraging the growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), strengthening the regional economy, and enhancing community welfare.

In the forum, representatives of Ormas and LSM declared their commitment to supporting the creation of a conducive public security and order situation to maintain the investment climate in Karawang.

They also expressed readiness to prioritise dialogue and deliberation in resolving issues, and to reject all forms of intimidation, extortion, illegal levies, or unlawful actions that could disrupt investment activities.

Through the coordination meeting, all participants agreed to strengthen communication and collaboration between the government, law enforcement officials, Ormas, LSM, and business actors so that Karawang Regency remains a safe, conducive, and attractive industrial area for investors.
