Dispute Over Vehicle Repossession Ends in Stabbing in Tangerang

SOUTH TANGERANG — A group of debt collectors carried out a stabbing against a client who is also a member of the legal profession at the Palem Semi housing estate in Karawaci, Tangerang, Banten. As a result of the incident, the victim, identified as Bastian Sori, sustained serious wounds to his abdomen and was rushed to the nearest hospital.

Based on a video circulating on the social media platform Instagram, a group of debt collectors was seen arriving at the client’s home in the Palem Semi housing estate, Karawaci. The narrative accompanying the viral video explained that the incident began with an altercation involving the perpetrators, believed to number three individuals, who claimed to represent a financial services company.

The group allegedly forced their way into the victim’s property and attempted to repossess his vehicle. However, the victim refused to surrender the car, arguing that the forced repossession procedure did not comply with legal requirements. The dispute ultimately escalated into the stabbing of the victim.

South Tangerang Police Chief Senior Commissioner Boy Jumalolo confirmed the stabbing by the group of debt collectors.

“It is confirmed that there was an incident involving a group of debt collectors who committed assault in Kelapa Dua,” Boy said in Tangerang on Tuesday (24 February 2026).
