Dispute between police and Jakarta council member in West Jakarta ends peacefully

The Traffic Unit of the West Jakarta Metro Police has stated that a case involving a police officer who was allegedly insulted by a member of the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives (DPRD DKI) has been resolved amicably. The incident reportedly involved the council member forcing their way into a Transjakarta lane in West Jakarta.

West Jakarta Metro Police Traffic Unit Head Kompol Reza Hafiz Gumilang said the case had been settled through a family-based resolution. "It is finished, the problem is resolved, they have forgiven each other," Reza said via text message on Tuesday.

Regarding the chronology of the alleged insult, Reza cited a misunderstanding. "There was a misunderstanding in the field," Reza said.

Based on information widely circulated online, the issue began when joint TNI and Polri personnel were managing traffic near the Pesing traffic lights on Friday afternoon. At that time, the officer was asked to open a lane by a driver who was allegedly a council member. A dispute ensued because the officer did not open the lane and the council member forced their way into the Transjakarta lane.
