Dispora hopes Ancol Beach PON 2026 will boost Jakarta's economy
The Head of the Jakarta Department of Youth and Sports (Dispora), Andri Yansyah, expressed hope that the hosting of the 2026 Ancol Beach National Sports Week (PON) will boost Jakarta’s economy.
“I always convey that sports play so many roles,” said Andri during the ‘Bergerak Untuk Jakarta Juara’ press gathering at the DKI Jakarta KONI Building on Thursday.
Andri ensured that micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) will be involved in the organisation of the championship. He continued that MSMEs that have received coaching and training will be invited to participate in the 2026 Ancol Beach PON.
“Moments and events such as these are what we use as opportunities for them to conduct their businesses,” Andri stated.
He explained that the aesthetic of the beach must still be maintained, as the hosting of the 2026 Ancol Beach PON is also expected to attract more tourists to the location.
“During the implementation of the PON, there will also be members of the public visiting the location for tourism. We will certainly involve our mentored MSMEs,” Andri explained.
The 2026 Beach PON is the inaugural edition and is a collaborative result between the Central KONI, the Provincial Government, DKI Jakarta KONI, and Jaya Ancol.
The event is planned to be held in late November, featuring aquatic sports (open water swimming, water polo), diving, 3x3 basketball, beach handball, volleyball, modern pentathlon, triathlon, teqball, rugby, and sailing.
