There are strong indications of involvement by one active civil servant and one former civil servant in this case, said Gresik Secretary Achmad Washil, as reported by detikJatim on Sunday (12/4/2026). He stated that the suspected involvement of these two individuals is the focus of the Regency Government’s investigation. The authority has also submitted the results of its internal probe to the police. Washil explained that one of the suspected perpetrators, the inactive ASN, is not involved in a similar case for the first time. The perpetrator was even previously subjected to severe sanctions, leading to his dismissal from his position. “This inactive one has previously been involved in violations, entering honorary staff not in accordance with procedures, and has already been sanctioned up to dismissal,” he clarified. The number of victims in this fraud case continues to increase. The Gresik Regency Government through the Personnel and Human Resources Development Agency (BKPSDM) has officially reported to the police on Friday (10/4). The perpetrators carried out their actions by exploiting gaps in unfilled PPPK positions. Victims were offered a shortcut to be appointed as civil servants on the condition of handing over a certain amount of money. “The value varies, around tens of millions of rupiah per person,” said Washil.
