A member of the Brimob (Mobile Brigade) of the Maluku Police, Bripda Mesias Siahaya, has been dismissed after assaulting a Madrasah Tsanawiyah (MTs) student, AT (14), to death in the city of Tual.

Bripda Mesias had apologised for his negligence resulting in the death of the MTs student. “I sincerely apologise to the victim’s parents and family. I was negligent and did not think carefully about the impact of my negligence,” said Bripda Mesias during the Indonesian National Police Ethics Hearing (KKEP) at the Maluku Police, Tuesday (24/2/2026) early morning, as reported by detikSulsel.

He conveyed this in front of the KKEP hearing panel before the verdict was delivered. The KKEP hearing was led by the Head of the Professional and Security Division (Propam) of the Maluku Police, Kombes Indra Gunawan.

On that occasion, Mesias admitted that he did not intend to take the victim’s life and regretted his actions.

“I had no intention whatsoever to assault (victim AT), let alone take his life,” he said.

Bripda Mesias also expressed his apology to the Indonesian National Police institution and the Brimob Corps. According to him, his actions have tarnished the good name of the Police.

“I also apologise to the Polri and Brimob institutions that I am proud of. Because of my actions, the institution’s reputation has become tarnished in the eyes of the public,” he continued.

Bripda Mesias Dismissed

The KKEP hearing finally decided that Bripda Mesias was guilty of violating the Polri code of ethics. In the marathon hearing, Mesias was dismissed from the Polri.

“Dismissed from the Polri with dishonour (PTDH),” said the Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Police, Kombes Rusitah Umasugi, Tuesday (24/2/2026) early this morning.

The Ethics Council stated that Bripda Mesias Siahaya had committed a disgraceful act because he was proven to have taken a life. Mesias has also been placed in special detention (patsus).

“Placement in a special place for 4 days, the period of placement in a special place is carried out by the offender, starting from February 21, 2026 to February 24, 2026,” he explained.

For his actions, Bripda Mesias was found to have violated Article 13 paragraph 1 of Government Regulation Number 1 of 2003 concerning the Dismissal of Members of the Indonesian National Police, in conjunction with Article 5 paragraph 1 letters B and C, Article 8 letter C number 1 and Article 13 letter M of the Indonesian National Police Regulation Number 7 of 2022 concerning the Code of Ethics of the Profession and the Commission for the Code of Ethics of the Indonesian National Police.

“Regarding the verdict conveyed, the alleged perpetrator, Bripda Mesias Viktoria Siahaya, stated that he would consider the verdict issued by the panel,” he said.

For information, AT died after allegedly being assaulted by Bripda Mesias Siahaya near the Uningrat Campus, Tual City, Thursday (19/2). The victim was hit with a helmet while the officer was on patrol for illegal racing.
