Tangerang (ANTARA) - The Tangerang City Communication and Informatics Service (Diskominfo) in Banten Province has urged the public to beware of scams offering side jobs through Telegram groups.

Tangerang City Diskominfo Head Mugiya Wardhany in Tangerang on Friday said the offers typically involve easy tasks with substantial profits.

She stated that cybercriminals exploit victims’ psychology to draw them into the offers. This modus operandi, known as the “Paid Mission” scheme, often misuses the names of well-known banking institutions to convince victims.

The scam begins with unilateral invitations to Telegram groups, assigning light tasks such as liking content, and providing small commissions deliberately given by the scammers to gain the victims’ trust.

She urged Tangerang City residents to calmly reject such offers from the outset rather than regretting it later. Data and financial security are top priorities.

“If residents find or become victims of cyber scams, immediately report through official police channels or public complaint services available in the Tangerang LIVE app,” said Mugiya.

She reminded people not to transfer money to unknown accounts under the pretext of facilitating the withdrawal of work results. Do not provide banking data, PINs, or OTP codes to anyone.

“Job offers that can be done while lounging but yield millions of rupiah in a short time should be treated with suspicion,” said Tangerang City Diskominfo Head Mugiya Wardhany.
