Dishub Permits Angled Parking on Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo Cawang to Ease Congestion
The Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) has established a time-regulated parking arrangement on Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo in Cawang, East Jakarta. Vehicles are permitted to park during specific hours according to the direction of travel and designated parking patterns, whilst violators will face enforcement action, including towing.
Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, Budi Awaluddin, stated that on the west side of Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo, heading towards Tanjung Priok, vehicles are allowed to park using a 45-degree angled pattern, except between 06:00 and 10:00 WIB. Meanwhile, on the east side heading towards Cililitan, vehicles are permitted to park parallel, except between 16:00 and 20:00 WIB on working days. Outside these hours, vehicles may continue to park in accordance with the regulations indicated by traffic signs at the location.
Previously, on Friday (26 June), the Jakarta Transportation Agency, together with the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) and supported by TNI and Polri personnel, conducted an operation against illegally parked vehicles in the Jalan Mayjen Sutoyo area. Budi stated that the enforcement was carried out to restore the road’s function, ensuring it remains safe, orderly, and comfortable for road users, whilst also ensuring all vehicles comply with the applicable traffic signs.
Approximately 250 joint personnel were deployed to the location during the operation. As a result, four cars were towed after they remained parked in violation of the rules despite being given the opportunity to move their vehicles. “Before towing was carried out, officers gave vehicle owners 10 minutes to move their vehicles,” Budi said.
Budi stressed that the crackdown on illegal parking will continue to be conducted gradually across various areas of Jakarta based on field evaluations and input from the public. “Enforcement is carried out fairly, without discrimination, and consistently. All vehicles, both two-wheeled and four-wheeled, parked in violation of the rules will be subject to enforcement in accordance with applicable regulations,” Budi asserted.
