Dishub officers awarded for foiling mugging at Rasuna Said Car Free Day

Four officers from the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) have received awards after foiling a mugging involving a sharp weapon during the Car Free Day (HBKB) event on Jalan HR Rasuna Said, South Jakarta. Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Budi Awaludin, stated that the officers were being recognised for their swift action in saving an elderly woman and her grandchild from the robbery. He emphasised that the agency’s role extends beyond traffic management to providing a sense of safety and comfort for the public, highlighting the importance of quick response and care for the community. Budi also affirmed the agency’s commitment to delivering the best service and announced plans to propose a budget for stab-proof vests to enhance the safety of field personnel. One of the honoured officers, Muhammad Nahrowi, recounted that the incident occurred on Sunday while he and his colleagues were securing the HBKB area. They heard shouts from residents and saw the perpetrator running towards them; the suspect panicked and fell when a vehicle attempted to pass, allowing the officers and residents to detain him. Nahrowi noted that there were two perpetrators, but one managed to flee. The officers seized a sickle, a motorcycle, and three mobile phones believed to be from previous crimes. The victims, an elderly person and their grandchild, were rescued, and the detained suspect was handed over to the Setiabudi Police for further legal proceedings. No officers were injured during the arrest despite the suspect carrying a sharp weapon.
