Dishub DKI to Expand Ojol Shelters, Maps Out Strategic Points
The DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) is set to increase the number of shelters for online motorcycle taxi (ojol) drivers at various strategic points. All shelters will be free to use and operate 24 hours a day.
Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Budi Awudin, stated that the agency has partnered with property associations, business operators, shopping centre managers, and application companies such as Grab and Gojek to expand shelter provision.
“We will increase the number of shelter points. We have committed with property associations, business operators, and malls to determine locations where shelters will be built. All application providers, namely Grab and Gojek, are also ready to build together,” Budi said in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (7/7).
Beyond commercial areas, the agency has also begun constructing shelters at all terminals owned by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government. Pulo Gebang Terminal is the first location to have such a facility. “Currently, we have instructed all terminals to build shelters. Pulo Gebang Terminal already has one, and subsequently, all terminals will have shelters,” he stated.
The agency will map the needs for shelters in each area by matching data with application companies and building owners to ensure accurate placement.
Budi emphasised that all shelters can be used free of charge by drivers and are open 24 hours a day. “This is free and also operates 24 hours. The same will apply to other locations later,” he stressed.
In addition to terminals, the agency will also expand the arrangement of pick-up points in station areas through cooperation with railway operators. One priority area is the Palmerah Station vicinity. “For stations, we will cooperate with the railway company to arrange the area, especially later at Palmerah,” he concluded.
