Discrepancy in Initials of Suspects in Acid Attack on KontraS Activist Andrie Yunus According to Police and TNI
Jakarta, VIVA – The case of the acid attack on KontraS activist Andrie Yunus has entered a new phase. Both institutions, the TNI and Police, have released the names of the alleged perpetrators. Interestingly, the two institutions released different initials for the names and the number of perpetrators.
Polda Metro Jaya, based on the results of the investigation conducted through a series of CCTV footage analyses, examination of statements from 15 witnesses, and physical evidence, obtained that the two executors have initials BHC and MAK.
“From this Polri data, one initial BHC and two initials MAK,” said the Director of Criminal Investigation of Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner Pol Iman Imanuddin, during a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya headquarters, Jakarta, on Wednesday, 18 March 2026.
On this occasion, Iman also showed screenshots from CCTV cameras of the two executors in the acid attack on Andrie Yunus.
Iman assured that the faces of the two perpetrators obtained are not the result of artificial intelligence (AI) editing. Thus, the results of the captures of the two perpetrators’ faces can be held accountable in court.
“This is the image we obtained; we did not make any changes or processing at all. So we can be held accountable that this is not an AI result,” he said.
“This is purely the result of footage taken from CCTV along the route travelled by the perpetrators. So it’s not an AI result. We can all see this is a person throwing the liquid,” he added.
However, Iman has not yet provided further explanation regarding the clarity of the identities of the two alleged perpetrators. Because the investigation process is still ongoing to try to uncover the identities of the perpetrators.
Because, based on the series of CCTV footage that has been shown, he admitted that the alleged perpetrators are predicted to be more than two people. Because in the CCTV recording, there is one motorbike with two other people who were tailing Andrie Yunus before the acid attack terror.
“Based on our analysis results, we can show the connection between the two people captured by the surveillance camera before and after the incident,” he explained.

Meanwhile, TNI Headquarters has also conducted an internal investigation into the alleged involvement of soldiers in the acid attack incident against Andrie Yunus. The result is that four alleged perpetrators have been identified as personnel from the Detachment Headquarters (Denma) of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (BAIS).
