Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel is celebrating its 36th anniversary, while Discovery Mall Bali marks its 22nd year. The anniversary celebrations feature a series of activities running from August 2026, culminating on 5 January 2027, under the theme ‘Kita Kuta’.

Event Committee Chairman Alfred Yodhian said ‘Kita Kuta’ reflects the journey of the Kuta area, which has grown alongside the community, businesses, and tourists who have become part of Discovery’s story. “Kita Kuta is a story about a journey that grew in Kuta, beginning with Kartika, and living with all of us until today,” he stated on Wednesday (17/6/2026).

One highlighted programme is the involvement of local Balinese MSMEs. Director of Marketing Communications at Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel Bali, Riska Wandira, mentioned that each activity session will feature around 50 different MSMEs on a rotating basis. Under this scheme, total participation is estimated to reach more than 1,000 MSMEs throughout the entire series of events. “It might even exceed 1,000. We will rotate the MSMEs, covering culinary, F&B, art stalls, fashion stalls, health, wellness, and natural care products originating from Bali,” she said.

As a property located on the Kuta coastline, Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel and Discovery Mall Bali are also focusing on environmental issues. Through its Corporate Social Sustainability Responsibility (CSSR) programme, management will organise beach clean-up actions and neighbour clean-ups in the surrounding Kuta area. “There will be specific moments for beach cleaning, and we will also have a neighbour clean-up programme, tidying up the neighbourhood around the Kuta area, the hotel’s neighbours, and the mall’s neighbours as well,” she added.

Riska also highlighted the ongoing waste problem in the Kuta area. She noted that last January, they had to remove approximately two tonnes of waste that had washed ashore. “At that time, we cleaned up to two tonnes of rubbish in January because of the large amount of waste arriving,” she revealed.

Beyond environmental actions, the ‘Kita Kuta’ series also includes social activities, such as providing donations to several humanitarian foundations in Bali, including Yayasan Senyum Bali, Yayasan Bali Pink Ribbon, and others.

National entrepreneur and founder of Discovery Kartika Plaza, Tomy Winata, expressed appreciation for the management’s consistency in enduring and growing through various ongoing programmes and renovations. “I heard that until 5 January there will be extraordinary door prizes. That is a good thing,” he remarked.

According to Tomy, various issues in the Kuta area, such as abrasion, traffic congestion, and tourist density, are consequences of economic growth that need to be resolved collectively. “I think we should work together. All these problems are impacts of growth. Our hand has five fingers, right? Not all are the same length. So we tolerate a little, and we work together to solve things, not just complain about the problems,” he explained.

The peak of the ‘Kita Kuta’ celebration will take place from October 2026 through 5 January 2027. This agenda serves as the closing of the anniversary series and a moment to reflect on the shared journey with Kuta over more than three decades.
