Discourse on 5 Per Cent Threshold: Puan States PDIP Has Been Consulted, But Not in That Forum

The Chairperson of the PDIP Central Executive Board and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Puan Maharani, has emphasised that discussions concerning a 5 per cent parliamentary threshold are still in the informal stage between political parties. According to Puan, no official agreement has been reached regarding the specific amount of the threshold.

“The discussion that the parliamentary threshold (PT) is 5 per cent is still in the stage of talks between political parties; it has not been made official,” Puan stated at the Senayan parliamentary complex on Tuesday (22/09/2026).

Puan noted that informal discussions regarding the parliamentary threshold will continue to be conducted alongside other political parties. She ensured that the PDIP is prepared to participate in these deliberations.

“Therefore, informal discussions will always be held with political parties, and the PDIP is certainly ready to always participate in the dialogue,” said Puan.

Puan revealed that the PDIP has indeed been invited to discuss the discourse on the 5 per cent parliamentary threshold. However, she clarified that these discussions did not take place within the specific forum dedicated to addressing the issue.

“Regarding the 5 per cent threshold that has been discussed, we (PDIP) have actually been invited to talk, but not within that particular forum,” she added.
