Discotheque shut down

SEMARANG: Mayor Soetrisno Suharto proved he was serious about
his threat to take stern action against discotheques caught
violating government regulations when he closed GP discotheque on
Jl. Jend. Soedirman on Saturday morning.

The local government has alleged that some discotheques remain
open until 2 a.m. on regular days and 3 a.m. on holidays, much
later than the hours permitted by a government regulation.

The local administration, however, did not reveal whether it
revoked the discotheque's operation permit for good.

Last Thursday, mayor Soetrisno threatened to close down
discotheques which ignored the regulation concerning working
hours. (31)
