Discipline needed for bus drivers

JAKARTA (JP): Instilling a high sense of discipline into
public transportation drivers is very important if the number of
road accidents is to be reduced, according to a traffic police
officer.

"Without a high degree of discipline, particularly in public
transportation drivers, traffic will be in constant chaos, which
could lead to a greater number of accidents on the road," Lt. Col
Wawan Ranuwwaya said in a written statement made available to The
Jakarta Post.

The police officer made the remark while officially closing
an upgrading course for public transportation drivers at the
Police Traffic Training Center in Serpong, West Java, on Monday.

Wawan expressed his hope that the two-week course would serve
its purpose, namely, to establish "traffic ethics" and make the
drivers realize that discipline was critical to life on the road.
