The government has underscored the importance of strengthening discipline as the primary foundation for building student character and enhancing state apparatus performance following the long holiday for Eid al-Fitr and Nyepi in 2026. This emphasis was conveyed in two sectors simultaneously: education and bureaucracy.

Deputy Minister of Basic and Secondary Education (Wamendikdasmen) Fajar Riza Ul Haq asserted that the habituation of discipline must become a culture in the school environment. This was stated during his role as the supervising officer at the flag-raising ceremony at Taman Siswa Bogor, West Java, on Monday.

According to Fajar, discipline cannot be taught merely theoretically but must be shaped through consistent daily habits. “The habituation of positive values in schools must be carried out continuously to become a culture that shapes students’ character from an early age,” he said.

He added that strengthening discipline is closely linked to face-to-face learning, the implementation of flag-raising ceremonies, and the reinforcement of nationalism. The government, he said, encourages schools to instil positive habits as part of forming a healthy and competitive generation.

Furthermore, Fajar touched on the importance of continuity in the education system across levels as part of character building. The integrated school model being prepared by the government is expected to strengthen discipline from an early age.

Meanwhile, in the bureaucracy sector, the emphasis on discipline has also become the main focus. The Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Central Kalimantan, together with the Regional Office of the Ministry of Human Rights of Central Kalimantan, held a joint roll call as a consolidation step following the long holiday.

The Head of the Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Central Kalimantan, Hajrianor, emphasised that the discipline and attendance of employees represent the professional responsibility of state apparatus. He asked all ranks to immediately refocus on performance targets and conduct evaluations of the first quarter’s achievements.

“This roll call is not merely an obligation, but a commitment to maintaining integrity, discipline, and readiness in providing services to the public,” said Hajrianor.
