Disbanding party

From Media Indonesia

A number of societal groups grouped under various names have
demanded that the Golkar Party be disbanded, saying that the
party has committed many sins during the New Order era, and
therefore caused suffering for the people.

Did people really live in misery during the 32 years of former
president Soeharto's rule? Honestly, I wonder whether the people
really lived in misery during the Soeharto era and whether they
live happily in the present reform era? What I am sure of is that
in the present reform era we all live in uncertainty and that
there are no bright prospects in sight.

The country has a new president now. I am convinced that Ibu
Megawati, the incumbent president, has never even considered
taking her revenge even though she suffered a lot during the New
Order era. There are many other more pressing things on her list
of priorities, and the public can hardly wait to be allowed to
live in peace. Many people will find it ridiculous that some
groups have been preoccupied with the demand that Golkar should
be disbanded. Fortunately, both Golkar Party leaders and members
are politically mature and do not deem it necessary to retaliate.

If disbanding a political party is considered necessary to
improve public welfare, the question now is which party should be
disbanded?
