Disasters and divine warnings
Disasters and divine warnings
From Koran Tempo
The natural disasters that have taken place in the country
should serve as a divine warning that we as a nation need to take
a close look at ourselves. Unless there is a concrete improvement
in our morality, more disasters are likely to follow.
Great Javanese prophecies from a long time ago predicted that
our nation would face a period of turmoil, in which those
refusing to commit sins would lose their portion and starve.
Nonetheless, "no matter how lucky are the ignorant, it is more
fortunate to be alert".
The most acute social ill in Indonesia today is corruption. If
the nation remains unaware of this problem, and people continue
to commit this sin for fear of losing his or her portion, we will
continue to see divine retribution in the form of natural
disasters. So, we should be aware and alert.
