Disaster Relief Officers Battle Fires in Aceh and North Kalimantan

In addition to forest and land fires, the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) has recorded extreme weather incidents in Burau Pantai Village, Burau District, East Luwu Regency, occurring on Sunday. Heavy rainfall accompanied by strong winds caused 19 families to be affected and damaged 16 residential homes, comprising three heavily damaged homes, six moderately damaged homes, and seven lightly damaged homes. BNPB has urged the public to remain vigilant against potential disasters, particularly as the seasonal transition approaches the dry season, which is forecast to begin earlier than normal in April 2026 according to Indonesia’s Meteorological, Climatological and Geophysical Agency (BMKG).
