The Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (Satgas PRR) for Sumatra has announced progress on mud clearance in disaster-affected areas across the region. Of the 508 targeted locations for mud removal across three provinces, 406 have been successfully cleaned.

“The Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force has carried out cleaning operations at maximum capacity, and based on data as of today, 406 of the 508 locations targeted for mud clearance across the three provinces have been cleaned,” said Amran, spokesperson for the Satgas PRR, at the Ministry of Home Affairs office in Central Jakarta on Monday (9 March 2026).

Amran detailed the cleaning progress in Aceh, where 366 of 405 locations have been cleared. “A total of 366 locations have been successfully cleaned, whilst 89 other locations are still under processing,” he stated.

In West Sumatra, Amran reported that all disaster-affected locations have been completely cleaned. The province had a total of 29 affected sites. “For West Sumatra Province, all 29 affected locations have been completely cleaned, representing 100 per cent completion,” he said.

For North Sumatra, Amran noted that 24 locations were affected by the disaster. Of these, 11 locations have been cleaned. “In North Sumatra Province, operations are ongoing at 24 affected locations, with 11 locations completed and 13 still under processing,” he explained.

Amran emphasised that the task force continues working to clear remaining mud deposits, with the government committed to cleaning all remaining locations. “This means 100 per cent of the work is complete, whilst 102 other locations are still under handling,” he concluded.
