Disaster Operations Centre: 5,231 people still displaced due to natural disaster in North Sumatra
Medan (ANTARA) - The Disaster Operations Centre (Pusdalops PB) for Disaster Management in North Sumatra reports that 5,231 people remain displaced due to a hydrometeorological disaster that occurred on 27 November 2025 in the province.
According to a report received on Tuesday, 5,231 people from 1,509 households remain displaced across two of the 20 municipalities and regencies affected by the disaster.
Pusdalops PB North Sumatra records that the thousands of displaced persons are distributed across Central Tapanuli Regency with 4,843 people and South Tapanuli Regency with 388 people.
Sri Wahyuni Pancasilawati, Head of Emergency Response, Equipment, and Logistics at the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) North Sumatra, said the report constitutes preliminary data received by Pusdalops PB North Sumatra.
“The data is an update as of 10 March 2026 at 17:00 WIB,” she stated.
She said that various disaster management efforts have been undertaken across respective areas and by relevant policy stakeholders.
“Further developments regarding the disaster will continue to be reported, including updated data,” she said.
Data from Pusdalops PB North Sumatra recorded 20 municipalities and regencies affected by the natural disaster, namely Medan City, Tebing Tinggi City, Binjai City, Padangsidimpuan City, Sibolga City, Deli Serdang Regency, Serdang Bedagai Regency, Langkat Regency, Humbang Hasundutan Regency, and Pakpak Bharat Regency.
