Disaster-affected mosque spruced up to welcome Ramadan

Students at the Darul Mukhlishin Islamic boarding school in Tanjung Karang village, Karang Baru, Aceh Tamiang regency, Aceh, have been preparing to welcome Ramadan 1447 H by cleaning and refurbishing the mosque at their pesantren complex.

The mosque, which was previously filled with logs in the aftermath of a flash flood, has been the focus of communal efforts including sweeping and mopping floors, laying new carpets, and holding religious talks attended by both male and female students of the boarding school.

Aerial photographs of the Darul Mukhlishin boarding school complex show the extent of the restoration work, as students busied themselves ensuring the mosque was ready for the holy month of fasting.
