Disapproved Romance Motivated Attempted Kidnapping of Elderly Person in PIK
The Metro Penjaringan Sector Police have successfully uncovered the motive behind the attempted kidnapping and assault of an elderly person with the initials GH (70) in the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) 1 area, North Jakarta. The desperate act was triggered by a romantic and family relationship issue that did not receive blessing.
Metro Penjaringan Police Chief, Adjunct Senior Commissioner (AKBP) Agta Bhuwana Putra, explained that the mastermind of this crime is suspect CW (31), a resident of Pluit, who is the former lover of the victim’s child, CKH. CW felt aggrieved by the victim’s family’s rejection of his romantic relationship.
“Regarding the motive, it is suspected to be due to a romance problem or a relationship that was not approved by the victim. Suspect CW, as the mastermind, wanted to bring and meet directly with the victim for personal interests related to the victim’s child,” Agta said in his statement on Monday (15/6).
In carrying out the action on Thursday, 16 April 2026, CW ordered his employee, FAP (26), to be the field executor. The incident began when the victim GH was taking a morning walk on Jalan Camar Permai 4 around 6.15 a.m. Western Indonesia Time. A white Toyota Fortuner pulled up alongside the victim, and suspect FAP attempted to forcibly pull the victim into the vehicle.
The victim fought back fiercely and screamed for help until she fell onto the asphalt. As a result of the screams, the perpetrator panicked and fled. The victim suffered abrasions on her arms, fingers, and elbows from being dragged on the complex’s road.
The investigation by the Metro Penjaringan Police Criminal Investigation Unit through CCTV footage revealed that the perpetrator had swapped the vehicle’s number plate from B 1168 PAC to B 44 BE to deceive officers. Police eventually managed to secure CW in Cikarang, Bekasi, and arrested FAP at an apartment in the PIK area.
A number of pieces of evidence have been seized, including CCTV footage, mobile phones, a screwdriver, and the jacket worn during the action. Currently, both suspects have been detained and are charged with multiple articles related to attempted kidnapping and assault under the Criminal Code with applicable penalties.
