Disappointment Over Alleged Village Fund Misappropriation Leads to Vandalism of Inspectorate and DPMDes Offices in Bima

The offices of the Inspectorate and the Department of Community Empowerment and Village (DPMDes) in Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), were vandalised. Police moved quickly to arrest eight suspected perpetrators.

“Yes, that’s correct. The incident happened earlier,” said the Head of DPMDes Bima Regency, Masykur, when confirmed by detikBali on Thursday (23/4/2026).

Masykur explained that the vandalism of the DPMDes office was allegedly carried out by a group of people. The destruction occurred during working hours around 11:00 WITA, leaving DPMDes employees frightened and traumatised.

“Window glass in several rooms was smashed. Office stationery (ATK), chairs, and tables were thrown around and scattered,” he said.

He mentioned that before vandalising the DPMDes office, the unidentified group reportedly also damaged the Inspectorate office. Masykur claimed he did not know the origin of the group or their motives for vandalising the DPMDes and Inspectorate offices.

“We don’t know where this group came from, including their motives for the destruction. But this matter has been reported to the Bima City Police Resort for investigation,” he said.

Separately, the Head of Criminal Investigation at Bima City Police Resort, AKP Dwi Kurniawan Kusuma Putra, revealed that the suspected perpetrators of the vandalism at the Inspectorate and DPMDes offices in Bima Regency have been arrested.

“Eight people were arrested. They were apprehended at different locations,” he said.

Dwi explained that in addition to arresting the eight suspects, police also secured several pieces of evidence (BB), namely one white pickup truck with licence plate EA-8388-W and two machetes.

“The suspects along with the evidence have been secured at Bima City Police Resort for further legal processing,” he clarified.

All the arrested suspects are from Parangina Village, Sape Subdistrict, Bima Regency. They vandalised the Inspectorate and DPMDes offices due to disappointment with the report of alleged village fund (DD) misappropriation by the Village Head (Kades).

“Initial interrogation results indicate that the vandalism was motivated by disappointment. Previously, RT Chairs throughout Parangina Village reported the Kades to the Inspectorate and DPMDes for allegedly misappropriating DD. However, this report was deemed not followed up,” he emphasised.
