Disappointed voter
Disappointed voter
From Media Indonesia
I am concerned about Golkar's decision to give its surplus
votes to the Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI). During the
campaign period I made every effort to visit family and friends
to explain to them why they should vote for Golkar.
I was happy with Golkar's victorious election result and hoped
that things would continue to improve. I hoped the would-be
legislators would not forget what they had promised the people
during the campaign when seated in the House of Representatives.
But I am very disappointed with Golkar's idea to give surplus
votes to PDI. How could Golkar throw away our votes so easily to
another party? This is an insult to the voters who never dreamed
of showing support to PDI.
I am concerned the people will not be able to make up their
mind whether they should vote for Golkar again in the 2002
general election, given their votes are regarded as mere "surplus
votes".
