Disabled Woman in Kendari Raped and Assaulted by Neighbour Until Miscarriage

A man with the initials LOK (51) in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, has been arrested for raping his neighbour, a woman with a disability identified as MI (30). The perpetrator also assaulted the victim until she suffered a miscarriage. “Yes, we have secured the perpetrator after receiving a report from the victim’s family,” said Kendari Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head Kompol Welliwanto Malau, as quoted by detikSulsel on Sunday (5/7/2026). The sexual violence case occurred in Abeli District, Kendari, between March and May 2026. The perpetrator’s heinous acts came to light after a friend of the victim informed the family. “The family received information from the victim’s friend, who is also disabled. The information was that the victim had allegedly been raped by the perpetrator,” Welliwanto stated. Police conducted an investigation after receiving the report and arrested the perpetrator at his residence in Abeli District on Saturday (4/7) at around 2.30 am Central Indonesian Time. The perpetrator admitted his actions against the victim to the police. Welliwanto said the victim became pregnant as a result of the perpetrator’s actions. However, the victim miscarried after being assaulted by the perpetrator. “The perpetrator continued his actions even while the victim was pregnant. The victim miscarried because the perpetrator punched her in the stomach,” he said.
