DIS to celebrate new toll road

JAKARTA: Anyone wishing to celebrate the opening of the new Jl. Ampera toll road connecting South Jakarta to Tangerang can join a motorcade organized by the Deutsche Internationale Schule (DIS) on Sunday.

The motorcade is the German school's way of showing its appreciation to toll road developer PT Jasa Marga and the government.

The toll road was completed on May 5.

The school says the toll road will help DIS students avoid the annoying traffic congestion along Jl. Deplu Raya that has plagued them for eight years.

"During those years, DIS students (collectively) spent a total of 380,000 hours, or 43 years, stuck in traffic jams. Now, we are all grateful because it takes only 12 minutes to travel from the South Jakarta toll entrance to the Bumi Serpong Damai exit," the school management said in a release made available to The Jakarta Post on Friday.

Participants will be invited to a free lunch and a swim at the school compound. --JP
