DIS celebrates new toll road

INDONESIA: Celebrating the completion of the Jl. Ampera toll road connecting South Jakarta to Tangerang, the German International School (Deutsche Internationale Schule, DIS) will hold a motorcade on Sunday along the new highway.

The toll road was completed on May 5.

The school says the toll road will help DIS students avoid the annoying traffic congestion along Jl. Deplu Raya to reach the campus in Bumi Serpong Damai that has plagued them for eight years.

"During those years, DIS students (collectively) spent a total of 380,000 hours, or 43 years, stuck in traffic jams. Now, we are all grateful because it now takes only 12 minutes," the school management said.

Motorists are invited to join the motorcade. The feast afterwards at the school compound will only be for school management, students and parents. -- JP
