Directorate General of Taxes Appoints Seven New Digital Tax Collectors, Including Strava
The Directorate General of Taxes (DJP) at the Ministry of Finance has appointed seven new entities as collectors of Value Added Tax (VAT) on Trade Through Electronic Systems (PMSE). The seven entities are Strava, Inc., Envato Pty Ltd, Envato Elements Pty Ltd, The Nielsen Norman Group, Inc., Kling AI Pte. Ltd., Law School Admission Council, Inc., and PLAUD LLC.
Director of Counselling, Services, and Public Relations, Inge Diana Rismawanti, explained that these entities operate across various digital economy sectors, including fitness services, digital content, education, and artificial intelligence (AI). She noted that the increasingly diverse appointment of digital tax collectors now reflects the broadening scope of PMSE VAT collection in line with the development of digital business models.
“The inclusion of AI service providers and various other digital services in the list of PMSE VAT collectors reflects the increasingly diverse range of digital services utilised by the public,” Inge stated in a press release on Friday (26/6/2026). Inge also reported that, in line with the expansion of the collector base, as of 31 May 2026, a total of 233 PMSE businesses had collected and remitted PMSE VAT amounting to Rp40.55 trillion. This total comprises deposits of Rp731.4 billion in 2020, Rp3.9 trillion in 2021, Rp5.51 trillion in 2022, Rp6.76 trillion in 2023, Rp8.44 trillion in 2024, Rp10.32 trillion in 2025, and Rp4.88 trillion in 2026.
“The DJP will continue to monitor developments in technology and digital business models to ensure that the implementation of tax obligations runs effectively, fairly, and provides legal certainty for business actors,” Inge concluded.
