Directorate General of Prisons Conducts Spot Check at Kerobokan Prison, Seizes Narcotics and Alcohol
From the spot check, a number of prohibited items were found, including several types of narcotics, mobile phones, and also alcohol, according to a statement from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights as received by Detikcom on Thursday, 21 May 2026.
The spot check was conducted on Wednesday, 20 May, at 02:00 local time. The investigation had been coordinated with the Head of the Bali Regional Office of the Directorate General of Prisons.
After conducting searches and thorough examinations at Kerobokan Prison, the Directorate General of Prisons subsequently reported and coordinated with the Bali Police at 17:00 WITA.
The Bali Police later received the evidentiary items from the Directorate General of Prisons. The Directorate General of Prisons then coordinated with the National Narcotics Agency (BNN RI) for further development of this discovery.
“Today we will jointly develop the results of the disclosure at Kerobokan Class IIA Prison, Bali. Further results will be communicated after the examinations and development are complete. At present the joint team is working; we await the results, and they will be released jointly,” he said. (isa/rfs)
