Directorate General of Immigration takes action against 346 foreigners suspected of violating regulations
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Directorate General (Ditjen) of Immigration, Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services (Kemenimipas), took action against 346 foreign nationals (WNA) in the Wirawaspada Operation conducted from 7 to 11 April 2026.
Of the 346 foreign nationals suspected of immigration violations, 183 were from China (PRC), followed by 21 from Pakistan and 20 from Nigeria, then 13 from Japan.
“The most common type of violation found was the misuse of residence permits, with 214 cases or about 61 percent of the total violations,” said Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko in Jakarta on Monday.
Hendarsam explained that the Directorate General of Immigration is tasked with supervising and enforcing the law against foreign nationals in Indonesia and those entering Indonesia.
The Wirawaspada 2026 Operation, carried out periodically each year by the Directorate General of Immigration, is part of immigration law enforcement activities to ensure the implementation of the “selective policy”.
“Only foreigners who provide benefits to the country and do not endanger security and public order are entitled to be in Indonesian territory, and also to ensure that the residence permits of foreigners are obtained and used properly,” he stated.
To ensure this selective policy, he said, the Directorate General of Immigration conducted 2,449 activities in the Wirawaspada 2026 Operation, carried out simultaneously across all immigration work units numbering 151 located throughout Indonesia.
“In addition to the misuse of residence permits, 24 cases of overstaying were also found, 17 fictitious investors, as well as various other administrative violations such as inability to show travel documents or addresses not matching the residence permit,” he said.
Furthermore, he stated that the operation examined foreign nationals from 36 countries.
For the next steps, he said, the foreign nationals caught in the operation are undergoing examination and will undergo further development as well as proceeding with immigration legal processes in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The Directorate General of Immigration, he said, continues to cooperate with all relevant parties in maintaining state security and creating fair law enforcement.
“We, the Directorate General of Immigration, are always committed to improving the quality of immigration law enforcement performance and taking action against all immigration violations to create security and order in society through various immigration law enforcement efforts,” said Hendarsam.
In the Wirawaspada Operation from 10-12 December 2025, the Directorate General of Immigration netted 220 foreign nationals suspected of immigration violations. The country with the highest number of violations was China with 114 people, Nigeria with 16 people, and India with 14 people.
