Directorate General of Immigration Respects Legal Process Regarding West Jakarta Immigration Sting Operation
The Directorate General of Immigration respects the legal process regarding the sting operation (OTT) within the West Jakarta Immigration environment conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).
“Regarding the sting operation carried out by the KPK, in principle, we respect the process and are awaiting the official release from the KPK,” stated Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko when confirmed in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Previously, the KPK arrested dozens of individuals in the operation, including the Head of the Class I Non-TPI West Jakarta Immigration Office, Ronald Arman Abdullah.
In relation to the arrests, Hendarsam ensured that the incident would not disrupt immigration services to the public at the West Jakarta Immigration Office, and that services continue to operate as usual.
“Regarding services, they continue to run as normal,” said Hendarstam. He added that the operational services of the West Jakarta Immigration Office are currently being managed by the Head of the Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration for DKI Jakarta.
Earlier, KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the KPK arrested several civil servants from the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services, as well as private parties, during enforcement actions that began on Tuesday night. He noted that the KPK team is still working to conduct further arrests in areas outside of West Jakarta, with teams currently active in Bali and West Java.
The KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of those detained during the sting operation in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). This marks the 11th sting operation conducted by the KPK in 2026.
