Directorate General of Immigration Has Not Received Request to Bar Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Directorate General of Immigration, Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services, has not received any request from law enforcement authorities regarding the barring of Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry or SAM, the suspect in the alleged sexual harassment case.
“The Directorate General of Immigration has, to date, not received any request for a travel ban from any law enforcement agency,” said Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko when confirmed by ANTARA in Jakarta on Monday.
Regarding the whereabouts of Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry, he stated that based on APK 4 crossing data, the individual is recorded as still being abroad.
It is known that APK 4.0, or the version 4.0 immigration crossing application, is a digital system developed by the Directorate General of Immigration to process passenger crossing data at immigration checkpoints (TPI) such as international airports.
He mentioned that Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry left Indonesia via Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Tangerang, heading to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE), on 15 March 2026.
“And to date, he has not returned to Indonesian territory,” said Hendarsam.
Separately, the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency has designated Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry or SAM as a suspect in the alleged sexual harassment case.
Head of the Public Information Bureau (Karopenmas) of the Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Trunoyudo Wisnu Andiko, in Jakarta on Friday (24/4), said the suspect designation was made after a case review by investigators from the Directorate of Crimes Against Women and Children Protection and Anti-Human Trafficking (PPA and PPO).
A series of investigations have also been conducted to provide protection for the victims.
It is known that Sheikh Ahmad Al Misry was reported to the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency in November 2025 for the alleged sexual harassment of five male students.
The victims’ legal representative, Achmad Cholidin, stated that the alleged actions by SAM caused severe trauma to the victims. Moreover, there are suspicions of intimidation by SAM or his representatives to withdraw the case from the police, including alleged bribery attempts against the victims.
Meanwhile, Ustadz Abi Makki, as a witness, said that in 2021, SAM had allegedly harassed his students.
He stated that the victims, along with student teachers and religious figures, conducted tabayyun, after which SAM issued an apology and promised not to engage in alleged same-sex sexual harassment again.
